A unique southwest Florida Setting

Historic Spanish Point in Osprey, just south of Sarasota, is a unique south Florida setting where lush natural beauty coincides with a rich and romantic history. Today, Historic Spanish Point is a 30-acre site dedicated to historic, environmental, and archeological education and preservation. The onsite historical museum features an ancient native shell mound or "midden," an early settler home, and other remarkable exhibits. Dozens of volunteers help a small staff operate and maintain the museum and the adjacent grounds.

Nationally Registered as a Historic Place

In 1976, Historic Spanish Point became the first site in Sarasota County to receive a listing in the National Register of Historic Places, and in 1980, the owners donated the Historic Spanish Point property to the Gulf Coast Heritage Association. Nature trails and boardwalks criss-cross all 30 beautiful acres through pines, oaks, and dense mangroves along the shore of Little Sarasota Bay.
